When a private belly dancer works best
Birthdays. The dancer times her entrance to the cake or the surprise. It works for milestone birthdays and for small dinners alike.
Dinners with friends. A set between dinner and dessert lifts the room without taking over the whole night.
Villa and rooftop parties. Outdoor spaces give the dancer room to move. Plan for good lighting and a flat floor.
Restaurant parties. Book the dancer for your table or your private room. Check first that the restaurant allows outside performers.
What happens on the night
The dancer arrives early and gets ready in a private room. Ask your venue or host for one with a mirror. At the agreed time she makes her entrance and performs her first set, usually 10 to 15 minutes. After a break she comes back for the second set. This is often when she brings guests up to dance.

How much space do you need?
Less than you think. A dancer can perform in a small space, but she needs a clear patch of floor with nothing to trip over. Move a coffee table, keep drinks off the floor and make sure guests can see her. If the room is tight, tell the team when you book so the routine is planned for it.
Ideas to make it memorable
- Plan the surprise. Keep the birthday guest out of the room until the music starts.
- Pick the colours. Ask for a costume in the colour of your party decor.
- Film it. Give one friend the job of filming, so everyone else can enjoy the show.
- End on the dance floor. Ask the dancer to finish her last set by bringing guests up to dance.
